These structures are negatively charged and therefore contain in their composition the charge compensating cations (positively charged ions) of sodium, and potassium, as well as water molecules. “Zeolite” comes from Greek and is translated as “boiling stone”.
An interesting and active property of zeolites is their capacity for ion exchange. Depending on the circumstances and environment zeolite “captures” the cations from the environment and releases the cations from its structure. Due to this remarkable feature zeolites have been used for a long time. Zeolites are used as high-level high-power sorbents in different branches of industry and agriculture. These purified natural minerals even address radiation contaminated objects.
How for many years no one has been able to ensure the purity and enrichment of zeolites for use in the practice of medicine and the food industry. The scientific work of the Russian scientists, who were the leaders and participants of the “Zeolites Russia” program led to the creation of the world's first clean technology, standardization and enrichment of natural zeolites.
Zeolites in the dry cosmetics “Secret of Beauty”
Scientific and industrial laboratory “LN-Cosmetics” has for the first time on the planet started using zeolites for cosmetic purposes.
The ability of zeolite to ion exchange is put to use in the dry cosmetics of “Secret of Beauty” to cleanse the skin from the harmful calcium ions, oxonium salts and heavy metals. At the same time there is a replacement for them of harmless, easily exchanged sodium or potassium ions which are useful for skin. Ions of copper, zinc, silver, selenium, form part of the enriched and modified zeolite. On the biological level, such ion exchange gives amazing results, proven and studied by our scientists.
Due to the sorption of harmful calcium ions, oxonium and heavy metals from the skin, a purification of the connective tissue collagen is rapidly achieved. Improved epithelial and fibre means that inside, the skin is saturated with moisture and smoothed. Biological process relationships are established in the skin. It improves the functioning of the existing skin cells and molecules of collagen fibre.
Another interesting effect of zeolites – renewal of the skin – is that an increase of new collagen production and activation of the immune defence is promoted. This gives a long-term anti-ageing result. This is not superficial beauty and depth because there is an active operating time of new collagen and the collagen has the parameters of youthful skin. Activation of the immune protection of the skin leads to the fact of reduction of acne and comedones as well as reduced fat production. With moisture and nourishment the skin starts to improve a number of skin conditions: dermatitis, eczema, diathesis.
These modified enhanced zeolites contain minerals (copper, zinc, silver and selenium) and produce anti-ageing, bacteriostatic, immunomodulatory effects on the skin. It is believed that zeolites have such a profound effect on the body that they have been used by humans since ancient times. They play the role of a natural key, activating the body's immune system and improving it. The use of these natural substances with which our bodies used to be in contact with for thousands of years, is launching a natural immunization system and activation of natural properties.
In our cosmetics we use natural volcanic tuff (a light, porous rock formed by consolidation of volcanic ash) from ancient deposits of its base – natural zeolites. They have rich mineral composition, and certainly have a positive effect on the skin. The high activity of zeolites is mitigated in some versions of our lithocomplex products with the addition of kaolin clay and montmorillonite.
Montmorillonite - layered clay mineral structure. As well as zeolite this clay has a high sorption capacity and is able to absorb moisture and swell to a gel state. Lithocomplex with the addition of montmorillonite zeolite is used for the care of the most delicate and sensitive mature skin.
Kaolin - structure clay mineral containing oxides of aluminum and silicon in its crystal lattice. Due to the weak adhesion layers in the crystal structure, this mineral is very soft and malleable. Kaolin, better known as white clay, has long been used in cosmetics. In “Secret of Beauty” dry cosmetics, the additives kaolin and montmorillonite, are used to mitigate the actions of zeolites on sensitive skin.
Sol - a 99% sodium chloride, but the remaining one percent contains many other minerals: calcium, potassium, sodium, bromine, iron, magnesium, iodine, zinc, copper, selenium, silicon and others. Salt minerals nourish tissues and activate the metabolism. Due to this cell renewal is triggered and fluid flows out from the connective tissue. Along with the output are liquid toxins and products of metabolism. Contrary to popular belief, the salt does not dry the skin, but it can form a salt crust on it and because of that there is a feeling of dryness. If the salt is washed off from the skin after exposure, the residual salt microparticles in the skin itself form the so-called “salt cloak” that holds the moisture within the skin. Therefore the need for seaside creams is reduced or even completely eliminated.
Depending on the origin of the salt, its trace element composition may vary. In our cosmetics we use different kinds of salt: sea, rock, sea sedimentary salt, salt lake brine and salt from the Dead Sea.
Sodium bicarbonate (soda). It softens the skin, saponifies (turn (fat or oil) into soap by reaction with an alkali) fats, cleanses oily skin and therefore a greater proportion is found in lithocomplex for oily skin. It lightens and partially removes the “black spots”, reduces inflammation and irritation. When cleansing the skin it helps to soften the old cells.
Talc - a mineral used for adsorption, deodorising, cleansing and moisturising of the skin. Despite a number of publications alleging some harmful charateristics this harm is not scientifically established and proven. Thus far the only proven harm is from inhalation of talc, as well as of many other foreign substances due to mechanical stimulation exerted by them.
Sapropel - from ancient sediments of freshwater reservoirs, formed by the accumulation of metabolic products of algae and microorganisms. It is a classic component of the curative mud lake. It contains all the minerals necessary for life, which nourishes the skin during application. It has a multi-functional effect on the entire body, increases metabolism and activates the surface elimination of toxic products in the tissues and cells.
Zeolites (natural sodium tuff) - a large group of natural minerals that are similar to each other in composition and properties. These minerals form a crystal lattice of tetrahedral silica and alumina groups . Simply put, this is like a honey comb shaped structure.
